The 4 Susty Moments of the Oscars 2016

1. Leonardo DiCarpio’s Big Win

Beloved Environmentalist, Climate Change activist and world class Actor Leonardo DiCarpio finally earned an Oscar for his role in The Revenant in the after SIX nominations.

Leonardo DiCarpio is also the 13th Highest-Paid Actor in the world and has earned an estimated $440 million-plus in his career so far according to Forbes. Last year, he pledged $30 million to Environmental Conservation efforts.

Leonardo seized a very golden moment at the Oscars to tell the world about Climate Change, a cause he is very passionate about.

What he said:

“I just want to say this — making “The Revenant” was about man’s relationship to the natural world, a world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history,” he said.

“Climate change is real, and it’s happening right now,” DiCaprio said. “It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters or the big corporations, but who speak for all of humanity, for the indigenous people of the world…and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed.”

“Let’s not take this planet for granted–I do not take tonight for granted.”

Too Inspiring!!

2. Lady Gaga’s Emotional Anthem for Sexually Abused Persons

This part of the Oscars moved me to tears as Lady Gaga performed her Oscar-nominated song about sexual assault – “Till It Happens to You”, just before it ended, a curtain parted on stage, and lots of young men and women who had previously been sexually assaulted,  stepped forward, exposed their forearms to reveal such words and phrases as “Survivor,” “You Are Love,” “Unbreakable” and “Not Your Fault.”

It was truly phenomenal.

3. Mad Max, 6 Awards!!!

Mad Max was an enjoyable movie for me, basically because of the Social and Environmental messages of Global warming and Women Empowerment; it visibly told a story with warnings about a world that had been ravaged by resource wars.
I however did not know think that this movie truly deserved 6 Oscar awards, though all technical awards; the movie did have an exceptional picture, make-up game was very strong and the costume design was on-point. All the same, it is good for the sustainability revolution in one way or the other and so I’m glad about it. Congrats Team Mad Max!
And these are solely my thoughts.

4. Spotlight on Eco-Fashion, thanks Suzy!

Suzy Amis Cameroun, Executive Director of Food Choice Taskforce, actress and wife of Academy award nominee, James Cameroun had this to say on Ethical Fashion:

“I only wear green to the Oscars. I’m not talking about gowns a fashion writer might describe as emerald, chartreuse or seafoam. No, my idea of a green dress is an ensemble that was created in a way that is as good for the planet as it is beautiful on the woman”.

I think she’s sweet.
