Communitrees

There has never been a more urgent time to take action to protect the environment. From unpredictable rainfall, flooding, drought, deforestation and sea level rise, the negative impacts of the climate crisis are now felt acutely by vulnerable communities. The Communitrees project is a community-based tree planting and climate advocacy project by SustyVibes and is supported by the British High Commission in Nigeria. It is part of a larger #NigeriaForNature initiative aimed at encouraging climate action in communities across Nigeria. Other projects include a waste to wealth initiative by Ecobarter and a residential recycling project by Chanja Datti

The communitrees project has planted 5000 indigenious trees in Nigeria working with local communities.

The 5000 indigenious trees were planted in communities and schools in Lagos and Abuja. The tree planting happens after a series of advocacy engagements with the community members who took ownership of the tree planting project.
