According to Unicef,” Over one million people die from malaria each year, mostly children under five years of age, with 90 per cent of malaria cases occurring in Sub-Saharan Africa. An estimated 300-600 million people suffer from malaria each year. More than 40 percent of the world’s population lives in malaria-risk areas” Amisa, a refugee living in the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania with her mother and six siblings is one out of 300-600 million people who are at the risk of this deadly disease. Struggling to survive each day, and with no protection from mosquitoes that carry malaria at night, hope abounds as her family moves into a new home, gets treatment for malaria, and she and her siblings prepare to start school in the fall none of which is possible without the life-saving protection of the bed nets you can help provide.
Malaria is one of the fastest killing disease, especially in Africa, malaria can be controlled and treated if diagnosed early on. Unfortunately, this is not possible in some areas of the world lacking in medical facilities, where malaria outbreaks can occur. How does that saying go? “Prevention is better than cure”? Yes! That’s it. A lot of things we could save ourselves from, a lot of physical, mental, emotional stress we could just prevent ourselves from. And a child’s life you can save today with your donation.
Many of us go to bed with plans for our tomorrow, while you can these children go to bed with fear that a single mosquito bite can and will possibly end their lives, no child deserves to go to bed that way, fearing for his/her life. Malaria hampers children's schooling and social development. Many children who survive a serious attack of malaria develop physical and mental impairment. These children need your help, they need my help, they need our help, Nothing But Nets is a global campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a disease which claims the life of a child every two minutes. Inspired by sports columnist Rick Reilly, hundreds of thousands of people have joined the campaign that was created by the United Nations Foundation in 2006. Nothing But Nets has raised $60 million to help deliver nearly ten million bed nets to families in need, along with other crucial malaria interventions. In addition to raising funds for its UN partners, Nothing But Nets raises awareness and voices to advocate for critical malaria funding for the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. These kids have dreams, they have aspirations, millions of them out there,
