Press Release on “TechMeetsRE” Project and Event

Abuja, May 8, 2019 – Clean Technology Hub, a pioneering hybrid hub for the research, development, demonstration and incubation of clean technologies for increased energy access and climate resilience has launched a project called ‘TechMeetsRE’ to enable the Nigerian technology industry identify opportunities for technology solutions in the fastgrowing renewable energy sector.

The project which is in three parts seeks to: Connect local tech ecosystems to renewable energy ecosystems aimed at building local partnerships towards increased energy access; To advance the use of local talent and local technology services companies in the growth and acceleration of the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector; To enable the Nigerian tech ecosystem explore business opportunities for immediate adaption into accelerating the renewable energy sector.

The project will commence on the 14th of May with a workshop in Lagos which will bring together stakeholders in the renewable energy and technology sectors to explore the applicability of local home-grown technology solutions within the renewable energy and clean technology value chain. This workshop will be an initialization, ideation and dialogue stage, where the tech and renewable eco-systems are expected to network and build the ground work for collaboration.

The workshop is supported by The Global Greengrants Fund, the Heinrich Boell Foundation and Sterling Bank.

This will be followed by a hackathon in the third quarter of 2019 where winning ideas will be provided support through incubation and acceleration to bring the ideas to the market.
