One thing about Susty events is that we would always have a good time while creating beautiful memories. If you’ve attended any Susty event I’m sure you can testify to it, If you haven’t it’s not too late to add it to your bucket list. Susty parties are an avenue to bring people together to discuss about trending sustainable issues, network, discuss, have fun and party with other susty friends.
Talking about having a good time, on Friday 13th of November we had our SusTEAParty in Port-Harcourt and it was all shades of colourful. Our guests arrived in beautiful shades of the rainbow to celebrate nature and the amazing humans both young and old who put in effort to spread and practise the message of sustainability.
The theme for this event was “Bridging generations” and the idea behind this was to bridge intergenerational divides and foster an environment where both the elderly and youth could exchange wisdom and care tips.
On this day we had several activities to keep our guests engaged, activities such as open-mic performances, games and raffle draws and panel discussions. The panel session was a thought-provoking discussion where our climate elder and youth representatives spoke on the link between climate change, emotions, wellbeing, intergenerational collaboration, environmental action, and their vision for a sustainable future. The panelists included; Elder Celestine Akpobari (Human & Environmental Rights Activist), Chigeru Delight (Climate Advocate), Promise Johnbull (Environmentalist) and moderated by Ayomide Olude, the project manager for The Ecoanxiety Africa Project (TEAP).
At the end of the event we had over 40 people in attendance and to make it more exciting we made them smile to their houses with awesome memories and gifts some of them had won from the raffle draw.
We would like to thank the Urban Movement Innovation Fund (UMIF) for contributing to the success of this event via the Youth Climate Fund Grant.
We are looking forward to our next one and we hope to have you join us.
