Brain drain is a slang term indicating a significant emigration of educated or talented individuals. A brain drain can result from turmoil within a nation, the existence of favorable professional opportunities in other countries or from a desire to seek a higher standard of living. Thousands of Africans leave the continent shores every year in search of greener pastures, a good number come for a quality education or for jobs that improve their lives.
How can Africa tap into her diaspora community to achieve the SDGs? Should we be worried about the amount of people leaving the continent? These are the conversations we are set to have at the Susty Party NY.
The SustyParty NY is an informal gathering of young people to discuss the pros and cons of brain gain and the impact of this in the actualization of the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa. If you’re an African or enthusiastic about African Development then you should join us!
