“It was a mistake”
“He only hit me once”
You can also add to the list of every amazing excuse you’ve heard ladies make for their man in the comment section.
“If he hits you once, he would hit you again”, hold on, before you start telling me things like “I know this couple, he hit her once and he never did again”. I have always believed that if a man can hit you once, he could do it again. Nobody should be abused. I know many separated, married, divorced women and sometimes I sit with them to just listen to what they have to say.
I marvel when people endure their relationships simply because they are married. I am not saying at every argument you tell the lawyer to serve your spouse with divorce papers, no, that’s not what I am saying. I am saying you have every right to leave a parasitic and abusive relationship.
People are always quick to say “God hates divorce”. When I hear that line, I just roll my eyes, people would quote one line from a scripture to justify their views. Forgetting, the preceding verses talk about how a man should treat his wife.
Like I said I know ladies with different marital status. This particular one is separated from her husband, long story short, he hit her because she forgot to give the waste bin dues to their neighbour. Though she explained that she couldn’t because she went out earlier than their wake up time. His friend was with him at the time he hit her, you know how guys can be around their boys.
She served them food and waited for them to finish eating and then she took a bucket of water and dashed it in their faces. The television, the couch was not spared. Of course, she had her car key and was ready to run. The pastor called them and asked her not to repeat it, and she looked the Pastor dead in the eye and said “Pastor, tongue rolling, holy spirit baptized, demon chasing Christian. If he should hit me again I would pour him acid”
Abuse isn’t just limited to married people, those ‘little’ hand kisses he gives you on your cheeks and you say it is nothing. They too, they matter. You don’t owe anybody anything; you have to take care of yourself first! Darling, you can’t pour from an empty cup, take care of yourself first, you have every right to walk away. Reach out to a friend, an organization. But these are my experiences – stories I have heard and my own point of view.
So let me know should a woman stay in an abusive relationship, because she took an oath and her faith doesn’t permit her to leave?
