For those of you who don’t know I’m natural haired and (drum roll please) a product junkie. I know some environmentalist just clutched their pearls, I sorry but anytime I see new products they just call my name and I want to buy. I’m even getting off track now, back to the article.

I’m always looking for products that work well with my hair, with my skin, and work well with my nails. You get my gist. But the good thing is that I always try to finish the products I have before going out to acquire a new batch of products that I may or may not need. (like I said I’m a product junkie).

Of recent there has been an increase in the natural-organic product trend, we can see an increase of Indie companies producing such product. Now, I’m not in any against this movement and I support it all the way, there are just some small very very small concerns that I have as an average consumer. Well, scratch that, as an environmentalist consumer.

The issue is that most of these companies have not reached “Soft Sheen Carson” aka Dark and Lovey parent company status, where the company could be held accountable for their waste products and can contribute to the cleanup of their waste. And even if they plan on helping the environment they have to make sure that they have a decent function structure in place that would actually work, benefiting both the environment and the people.

If we are going to call our products

  • Natural
  • Organic
  • Vegan
  • And Cruelty-Free (this means that no animals where harmed in the production of the product)

Then we should also be prepared to call our products

  • Sustainable
  • Recyclable or made of recycled materials
  • With every purchase, we help the environment or the community by …

I say we because it is both the responsibility of the company and the consumer to ensure that we protect the environment. It’s our planet we have no other one.

A few suggestions for these companies

We use a lot of skin care, hair care, pimple care products

We spend our money on these products

As much as they help our bodies what are they doing to the environment…?

This is all food for thought as they say.

Now part three has ended watch out for part four.

Have a Susty filled day.
