The SustyParty Lagos was held at African Artists’ Foundation on the 8th of December 2018. The SustyParty was organised by in conjunction with their Street Dreams Project. With the support and contribution from sponsors, we were able to successfully transport and accommodate the beneficiaries of the project. This support gave the photographers: Tonye Dan-Asisah, Florence JohnBull, Victoria Akeere, Princess Ella Nwiyee, Maria Okaese, Tokoni Pepple, Violet Maxwell Benson, the opportunity to share their work and discuss their work with interested visitors.
The goal: getting young people to talk about the SDGs and what our roles as in achieving them, was fostered with a combination of the Women and The Environment-themed exhibition. As well as a panel discussion with multi-disciplinary artist, Jekein Lato-unah and documentary photographer, Bernard Kalu. In conversation with Sustainability Consultant, Adiya Atukuly, both who discussed the role of arts in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing social issues.
To complement the conversation, spoken word poet, Kormbat, wowed the crowed with two powerful pieces about gender equality and social responsibility.
Along the theme of Sustainable development and the responsibility of young people, representatives from ONE’s ‘Vote Your Future’ campaign discussed the importance of voting as young people.
