Spoken Word Artiste and SustyViber, Valentine Onyeka Ogunaka AKA ‘Brainbox’ today visited Harold Curtis Academy, Kubwa-Abuja as part of his Career Talks and Education for SDGs mini tour – Yes, you heard right? Brainbox is taking his love for sustainability and spoken word to the world! It’s amazing the things young people can do with and for the SDGs.
He performed some inspirational poems and encouraged students aged to pursue quality education (SDG4) beyond the classroom which includes (but is not limited to) gaining a better understanding of the world around them as well as how to improve it.
He also provided insights into possible career opportunities in advocacy and capacity development while Mary, an assistant head teacher helped in coordinating students’ participation and assessment. In a short interview after the presentation, she offered Brainbox her thoughts on Education for Sustainable Development for the Nigerian Education System and curriculum.
Brainbox also featured as a headline poet and speaker at our Susty Party Abuja – our own way of linking young people to the global goals.
Brainbox was arguably one of the best acts of the night as he drew a correlation between Child Marriage and Climate Change in Nigeria’s Northeast. Listen below:
He also showed his support for the goals he loves and advocates at our Green Carpet.
