BACKGROUND
More women are pursuing entrepreneurship in Africa per capita than anywhere else in the world. For this reason, Spark* is conducting a continent-wide search to bring together an unrivaled group of 15 African Female Founders for its YHER Accelerator.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Y-HER Accelerator Program is a powerful opportunity for passionate female impact entrepreneurs in Africa who are at the early stages of building businesses and organisations that exist to change the lives of women and girls in Africa.
Successful applicants will under go a week-long intensive entrepreneurship program from Saturday, 11 November – Friday, 17 November 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The program is designed to fast track early stage ventures and training will be along inspiring group of fellow female entrepreneurs working hard to create a better world for women and girls.
A total of $50,000 in prize funding is available for the winners of the peer review and audience votes.
ELIGIBILITY
The desired applicants must meet the criteria below:
- Female-Led Ventures: Must have at least one female co-founder who will participate in the program.
- Support Women and Girls: Venture must exist to improve the lives of women and girls who are held back by poverty.
- Local: Applicant must intimately understand the problem they are trying to solve.
- In the Early Stages: Venture should have been launched or at least run a pilot and have some early traction or proof of concept. Applicant will typically have less than 100 customers and have been in operation less than two years.

The application must be completed by the applicant themselves. While prospective applicants may ask for guidance and support from others, the form must reflect original ideas and passion, expressed in applicants own words. The admin will conduct a phone/SKYPE interview with shortlisted applicants.
