7 things I bet you never knew about the Global Goals

If you don’t know what the 17 Global Goals are then you are wrong.

But you could check my post here to get in Formation

1. Two of my favourite people: Francis Anyaegbu and Esther Agbarakwe were involved in the planning and development of the 17 Global Goals I asked them and their responses are below:

Francis Anyaegbu: As chair of the UNHABITAT Youth Advisory Committee on the post 2015 Development goals, I was invited to join the Policy and Strategy group of The World We Want; targeted at gathering the priorities of people from every corner of the world and help build a collective vision that was used directly by the United Nations and World Leaders to plan a new development agenda (SDGs) which launched in 2015.

Esther Agbarakwe: Of course, I started with it at UN Rio+20 in Brazil; while working as one of the famous four youngers with The Elders; Gro Harlem Brundtland, Mary Robinson, Desmond Tutu and Fernando Cardozo. We demonstrated true intergenerational dialogue on Sustainability & Advocating for sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and girls after 9 weeks of engagement across the world.

5.  Popular filmmaker of movie – Mr Bean, Richard Curtis began the Global Goals campaign by making an awesome short movie – Project Everyone which led to the creation of the first ever global cinema ad, an animation produced by Aardman Animations featuring world leaders depicted as animals. It is expected to appear in movie theatres in over 30 countries.

6. UN is telling us that the key to good health is love…just take a look at the logo for Goal 3 – Good health and well-being.

You are not sustainable if you don’t have love in you. This is truth as Sustainability is a process that combines both social and environmental good; you have got to have a conscience filled with love to appreciate this sustainability concept.

7.  Our Nigerian sister – Yemi Alade shared her voice along other talented African musicians to help share the word on the Global Goals.

The song called Tell Everybody features Mafikizolo (South Africa), Diamond (Tanzania), Sauti Sol (Kenya), Toofan (Togo), Becca and Sarkodie (Ghana). Watch Video below.

I am considering we create a Nigerian dance for this beat. Who’s with me?
