SustyVibes screened Swallow in Lagos last month. It’s Port-Harcourt’s turn on the 8th of December. Swallow is a film by the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation, the film aims to highlight the urgency of food insecurity and discusses how food importation has become a major challenge.

Swallow digs deep into the problems of food insecurity and proffers solutions whilst addressing opportunities that can be invested in.

Swallow addresses problems affecting Food Security in Nigeria from farmers’ lack of Infrastructure and increasing climate change creating the perfect storm. Climate change has made it hard for farmers to predict the seasons, making it harder to schedule farming practices. Most of the farmers are still involved in old agricultural practices, using manual labor limiting the yield of food that can be produced.

Nigerian farmers collectively accumulate about 40% post-harvest , losses. Factors such as poor electricity, bad transport system contribute greatly to this.

Swallow sheds  light on all of these problems threatening productive agriculture and Food security in Nigeria.

The Movie will be screened on  Saturday, 8th of December 2018 at  Ken Saro-Wiwa Innovation Hub, 24 Aggrey Road,  at 3:30pm.
