SustyVibes at 7: Street Conference Abuja

To celebrate SustyVibes’ 7th-anniversary team Abuja took sustainability to the streets and they did it in the most exciting way possible! Our Abuja community decided to mark this milestone by hosting a Street Conference Event at the Gudu Market in Abuja, if you don’t know what our street conferences are about, it is simply an avenue to take sustainability to the streets in sensitization and also in action. And as you know, we delivered!

We started early at 7:00 am WAT to kick off. And of course, before the main event, we had a brief orientation to make sure everyone was on the same page and also discuss safety precautions. Once everyone was briefed and energised, we paired up and started to make our way into the market with our placards and a contagious enthusiasm for sustainability.

We headed out and hit the streets to spread awareness about the negative impacts of improper waste disposal, the importance of environmental protection, the climate crisis, sustainable lifestyle practices, and the waste-to-wealth culture.

The team spoke to residents in the environs spreading the message of sustainability and how they can be actors of positive change. We also had the physical presence of partners, who also sensitised the residents according to their speciality.

But that’s not all – we discovered a volunteer who upcycles plastics into trendy accessories like earrings and necklaces. How cool is that?

The Abuja community definitely had fun in taking susty to the streets, and we are grateful for our sponsors, KhairosHof and partners ecocykle and Impluse Recycling and we are super grateful for their support. Next time you’re looking for a good way to take sustainability out there our susty squad has you covered.
