STREET CONFERENCE 2022 IBADAN

The Ibadan Clean up was carried out on the 17th of September 2022 at the Challenge Motor Park as part of the nationwide Susty Street conferences organized by Sustyvibes commemorating world clean up day 2022.

The massive effects of pollution worldwide are getting direr, and that fuels the battle that inspires a day like the world clean up day, which is commemorated in 190 countries, aimed at converging people to work together in building a more sustainable world for all.

EVENT ACTIVITIES

The clean up started at exactly 8:42 am and we began with a brief introductory meeting anchored by the team lead for Ibadan who welcomed everyone and reiterated the need for the event and reasons we should work to make the day a huge success, then he divided the team of volunteers present into two groups, one group cleaned up the park, the complexes within the vicinity and a small market within the premises. And while the clean up was ongoing, the advocacy team led by Olalekan went around talking to people about how to manage waste, effects of climate change and why people should recycle.

PARTNERS AND VOLUNTEERS

Partners included  Wecyclers, which came to take up the trash and Success Rural Educational Vision (S.R.E.V.), an educational nonprofit for young secondary school children.

IMPACT

After cleaning up for an hour, 8 bags of trash were recovered at the site of clean up of which we has 5 kgs of recyclables. We had 47 volunteers present who all worked hard in ensuring that the clean up activities were a huge success. The advocacy team also touched every major part of Challenge park.

CONCLUSION

The clean up ended at exactly 10:13AM, with everyone meeting at the converging point to relax, network, and take pictures with some light refreshments.
